Type T Thermocouple Wire
Thermocouple wire allow temperatures to be measured electronically. A typical thermocouple construction consists of a pair of dissimilar metals that are electrically joined together at the sensing point and connected to a voltage measuring instrument at the other end. When one junction is hotter than the other, the thermal “electromotive” force (in millivolts) is produced that is roughly proportional to the difference in temperature between the hot and cold junctions.

We differentiate between thermocouple cable and compensating cable. Cables made of original materials are called extension or thermocouple cables, whereas conductor materials made of substitutes are known as compensating cables.
The compensating wires and strands are composed of alloys which do not have to be identical with the corresponding thermocouple. Substitute material means that the thermo-electric characteristics in the allowed temperature range (usually 0 up to +200 °C) for the compensating cable must be the same as those of the corresponding thermocouple. They are identified with the letter ”C“ adapted to DIN IEC 584. The ”C” appears behind the code letter identifying the thermocouple, for example, ”KC”.
Extension cables are made of conductors with identical nominal structure to the corresponding thermocouple. They are identified with the letter ”X” adapted to DIN IEC 584, which appears behind the code letter identifying the thermocouple, for example, ”JX”. They are normally tested within a temperature range of 0 up to +200 °C.
Thermocouple cables consist of the same element material as the thermocouple and are tested for the same temperatures. These BHUWAL special cables are manufactured on customer request. Silicon , fibre-glass, and Stex insulated or sheathed compensating and extension cables are not suitable for outdoor use. Exception: PTFE sheathed solid conductors can be used for underground laying.

Tough rubber-sheathed cable is a type of cable which normally consists of a black outer sheath of rubber with several conductors inside. The rubber provides an abrasion-resistant, corrosion-resistant, waterproof, protective covering for an insulated electric cable. Though obsoleted for domestic use, it is used for flexible cables when greater mechanical toughness than PVC is required such as temporary electrical wiring at events where the cable is standardised as Cenelec code H07RN-F (H07 for short).
